Dr. Rasha Morsi is a Professor, Graduate Program Coordinator, and founding Director of the Creative Gaming and Simulation (CGS) lab in the Department of Computer Science at Norfolk State University (NSU).
She is an exceptional scholar with extensive research experience in the areas of Modeling, Simulation, Visualization, and Training Technologies (MSV&TT) design and development, Gamification, and Humanoid Robotics. Her unique and exemplary experience as a teacher, scholar, and software developer has afforded her the means to design and lead several cutting-edge, award winning projects which include mobile and PC-based serious games and interactive tools for K-16, professional, and medical education and training. Her innovation in this field has earned her the Governor of VA’s prestigious SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award among a slew of other local and national honors and awards.
Dr. Morsi's research has been supported by several agencies securing her ~$15.1M in funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, among other public and private agencies. She has 41 publications and 140 keynote, invited speaker, speaker and/or panelist presentations at conferences, professional meetings, and/or workshops.
Dr. Morsi received a First-Class Honors bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems and Electronics Engineering from King’s College, University of London, England. She then received a master’s in electrical engineering (Computer Systems) and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering both from Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, VA, USA.
