Nature is full of incredible moments, unbelievable scenes and tons of action. Whether it’s large predators like lions and bears attacking their prey, or the tiniest of insects teaming up to accomplish a task, nature has countless photographable moments at all scales.
One of the reasons that nature photography is so popular is that it is so accessible. You don’t have to dive to the depths of the ocean or travel into the wild to find a fascinating scene. Wildlife is all around us and a great nature scene is often no further than the nearest wooded area.
In nature, sometimes incredible moments happen that are captured at just the right time by photographers, like these:

To run a successful restaurant, the food needs to be good. But even with good food, poor customer service, poor ambiance and poor branding can sink even the best restaurants. These days, the restaurant business is so competitive that a restaurant needs to stand out in many ways, and the interior/exterior design is one of them.
The ambiance of a restaurant is key to making the food seem as part of a cohesive experience, and the lighting also helps to draw out and highlight certain aspects of the food. Creating an location design for a restaurant can be challenging, and often multiple concepts are required to create the vision.
This is where visualization comes into play. Using computer software, it’s possible to create realistic designs, like these:
Briggs Bar
Fiori
Divino

Montero
Pizza Art
Spacialists

Stefano’s Oyster Bar

Todays set of textures is a follow-up from our Fallen Straws set that we posted last month. The textures are also black and white but we’ve made them much darker which fits great with the abstract flow of the straws.
I hope you like them, enjoy!

Superheros are some of the most popular characters in fictional media, and with good reason: they wield incredible powers and perform awesome feats, and save the world from countless enemies and disasters.
Each superhero comes with their own powers, and often, their own weaknesses, perhaps most famously, Superman’s weakness is kryptonite. Often, but not always, superheros have to mask their identity in order to protect their work.
Superheros can be captured in real life photography, using some clever photomanipulation and staging of elements, and the results range from awe-inspiring to cute and adorable:

Last week, we talked about the importance of location design when it comes to running a successful restaurant or food-based business. If the food is the attraction, and the restaurant is the location, the logo is what helps people recognize it.
Logo design requires a ton of creativity and the ability to refine down a vast array of concepts into a single idea. While the design elements may change from industry to industry, the challenge is the same. In the restaurant industry, playing off ingredients or food, or using a play on words, are some of the most creative ways to make interesting logos.
Here’s a few examples of creative and clever food logo designs that might just make you want to try these restaurants:
Pepperhorn
Eggflip
Pizza
GuavaPlaza
BurgerFactory
Rooster Bakery
cuisincakes
Recipe House
Eggtown
Eduger

Todays set of textures is from an old building that’s been subjected to harsh weather for years. The walls are cracked and the paint is worn and peeled, perfect as a grunge background in your next design.

Blurriness is usually considered a bad thing. No one likes to have blurry vision, it’s a symptom of poor eyesight or health issues, and it leads to headaches due to the inability of the eye to focus properly. In photography, blur is usually considered an amateur’s problem when it’s unintended, and simply a focusing feature for more advanced photographers.
Blur occurs for two main reasons in photography. The first type is focal blur, or blur that results from a lens being focused on something and not on something else, and having a limited depth of field. The other type is motion blur, which is caused by moving objects that are being photographed with slower shutter speeds.
Blur isn’t always a bad thing, in fact, it’s often used to highlight or bring out a subject, or to create a sense of motion or intensity, such as in these examples:

Fire is one of the most important processes that occurs on Earth. The ability to stay warm, eat cooked food and keep predators away was essential to early mankind’s survival, and along the way, it’s been harvested to help power engines and as a weapon through flamethrowers.
Fire has some specific concepts associated with it, such as energy, heat, passion, warmth, and destruction. When used in art and design, it frequently expresses one of these concepts.
Using fire in design is actually harder than it seems, because fire is not a solid object that can simply be pasted into a scene. It generally needs to be created from scratch or have layer effects applied to get a result. Here’s some tutorials that will help you with it:

Today I’m sharing a set of textures that I shot of an old iron fence. The fence is pretty close to the sea and has therefore rusted quite a bit. I played around with the textures in Lightroom, changing the colors and contrast to archive the gray effect.
