Does reading an e-learning blog result in more questions than answers?  Does reviewing descriptions of conference sessions make you wonder what language they are written in?  Do acronyms such as SCORM, LMS, and LCMS make you dizzy?  If so, then this session is for you.  It can be challenging to understand e-learning information without a baseline of knowledge.  This session is designed to give you that foundation so you can understand everything else you see, hear, and read.  So bring all your questions (yes, even the ones you are afraid to ask), and get the answers you need so that all the other sessions will make sense.

How This Session Addresses the Issue:
For an e-learning beginner, attending a conference can be like trying to jump rope when other people are already spinning the rope very fast.  In this session, we’ll set the rope down and explain all the basics in a clear, safe, and easy way.
While concurrent sessions tend to dive deeply into specific areas of the industry, this session will include a broad brush on many topics such as:
  • The different types of e-learning (self-paced, webinar, MOOC, etc.)
  • Technology used for e-learning (authoring tools, LMSs, social media, etc.)
  • The overall e-learning design and development process (analysis, storyboarding, media, testing, etc.)
  • Managing e-learning projects (timelines, costs, etc.)

Why This Topic is of Interest: Participants at a conference need to maximize the investment of time and money. This won’t happen if they don’t have a base of knowledge for the sessions to make sense. This program will ensure that participants are well grounded in the fundamental concepts so they can be confident they’ll get the most out of the rest of the conference.

There was so much interest during the webinar that we ran out of Q&A time BUT Diane and Amy have taken the time to compile all the questions into a 10 page (!) Q & A Summary with answers. Our thanks to Diane and Amy!
