Description

Is L&D keeping up with the rapid changes to industry and jobs in the last ten or so years? According to The Future of Jobs report by the World Economic Forum, we aren’t.

An accelerating rate of technological change and other disrupters are transforming organizations and reducing the longevity of organizations and job skills. Research shows jobs skills are rapidly changing, with technology replacing some skills, some jobs being replaced with technology, and new jobs being added. Unstable skills mean workers need to continuously learn to keep up with changes happening in the world, their industry, and their company. And research shows there are gaps between what employers need and what employees can do.

One of the most important ways that L&D practitioners can help with the current and coming job and skill chaos is to help people learn faster, easier, and with less stress. The good news? The learning sciences and other sciences (psychology, cognitive, social and so on) deliver specific and actionable tactics to help with these looming challenges.

In this session, Patti will discuss how L&D practitioners can help people

  • Become more self-sufficient learners
  • Remember and apply on the job
  • Learn and apply necessary social skills

Patti will show examples and supply handouts from her books, Write and Organize for Deeper Learning and Practice and Feedback for Deeper Learning.
