Dr. Art Kohn earned his Ph.D. in cognitive science at Duke University and teaches both in the Department of Psychology and the business school at Portland State University. He was awarded the National Professor of the Year award from the American Psychological Association. He also won a Fulbright Fellowship in cognitive psychology and a second Fulbright Fellowship in distance education. He consults with the Centers for Disease Control on using social messaging for addressing HIV in the developing world. He is the author of Communicating with Psychology and he develops interactive media products for higher education and for corporate training.
Art is an experienced speaker who engages with his audience and leaves them entertained and informed. Art has been a professional actor, both on stage and screen, and since receiving his Ph.D. he has spoken at dozens of commercial and academic conferences. Recently he has become a popular keynote speaker. He was voted the national professor of the year and he has presented to 3,000 people as part of the ISEPP lecture series. He also lectures as part of the Fulbright traveling scholar program (Nigeria, Hungary, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Japan) and he even speaks on cruise ships where he is able to inspire vacationers with his stories.
