Paper textures are incredibly common in design. They are useful for creating a grunge feeling, as well as providing texturing or depth to a variety of different design styles. They are also useful for backgrounds for typographical artworks.
Creating paper textures isn’t very difficult. Simply lay out a piece of paper and take a picture of it. However, paper can also have character, such as crinkles, stains, scratches and other wear.
Here, I’ve selected 10 of my favorite paper textures that are all free for you to download and use:
Old Paper Texture
Grungy Paper Texture
Paper
Stained Paper
White Paper Canvas
Paper
Distressed Paper
Paper Background for Poems
Drawing Surface Paper Texture

Clowns are amusing, comic performers who use a variety of humor styles to entertain an audience. Usually wearing heavy makeup and wearing a costume, with colorful hair and clothing, clowns are frequently found at circuses, fairs, and parties, as a way to entertain the crowd.
Many people are afraid of clowns though. Referred to as coulrophobia, the fear of clowns is often attributed to the nature of exaggerated facial features, costumes and behavior of clowns that can seem unnatural.
Whether you find them amusing or terrifying, clowns are certainly distinctive, and that is especially true when photographed:

Photoshop is by far one of the most powerful image editing tools available, and it’s used by both individuals and businesses alike for everything from photography to graphic design, web design and computer graphics.
For photographers especially, Photoshop has a large number of useful tools, but frequently, the same editing tasks are performed multiple times. Photoshop Actions are a programmed set of tasks that automatically are replayed when the action is used.
This allows for a given effect to be applied to a set image without having to re-do each step, while still having control over the finished product. Here’s some free and useful Photoshop actions that you’ll love:

Hey guys, here’s another great set of grunge wall textures for you. This is one of my favorite, and is "super" grungy and messy. It’s from an old concrete fence I stumbled upon recently, and it’s really detailed and worn out. Enjoy!

Zen is a Chinese word that refers to a school of Buddhism. Emphasizing insight and using techniques such as breath monitoring, mental observation, meditation and chanting, Zen is commonly referred to as a meditative state.
Zen concepts are practiced not only in Buddhism, but also in a variety of other religions, as well as yoga, and even the concept of biofeedback in medicine uses similar techniques as Zen.
Capturing zen in photography usually focuses on illustrating the calm, meditative, focused states:

These days, patterns are everywhere in design, as backgrounds, textures, and more. Nowhere is their use more prevalent than on the web as backgrounds and separators.
Whether you’re designing a static website, or a theme for a platform such as WordPress, choosing quality patterns as your backgrounds is important. The pattern should be seamless and repeatable without noticeable lines or separation.
Plus, if you’re using the patterns in a theme or template, they must be licensed for such use. Here’s some really useful patterns that you can use as web backgrounds:
Nasty Fabric
Cloth Pattern
Black Grid
Blue Crosshatch
Wild Oliva
Tan Mosaic
Green Cup
Retro Stripe Pattern
Wood Floor Pattern
Flourish Pattern

Dance is an incredibly popular activity, and permeates modern culture in a variety of forms. From club and street dancing to ballroom and formal dancing, dance can serve as exercise, intimate expression, social interaction or for religious reasons.
Archaeological evidence suggests dance has been a part of human society for a long time, existing since humanity’s first civilizations. Famous dances include line dancing, rain dancing, wedding dances and more.
Dancing is great to photography because it’s both an activity as well as an individual and emotional expression. Check out these great examples:

Props are a great way to add some fun to your photographs. Whether you’re a fashion photographer, portrait photographer or events photographer, being able to creatively and effectively use props is a valuable skill.
Props are often most common in portrait photographs. Engagement and wedding photoshoots frequently feature props, as do holiday family photographs. However, props can be used in almost all types of photography.
If you’re wanting to get started with props, it can be a lot of fun (and give you more control) to create your own. Follow these DIY prop guides and you’ll be on your way:
Polaroid Frame
Flower Bouquet
Flower Lights
Mustaches
Confetti
Sweet Lips
Baby Masks
Paper Hearts
Burlap Banner
Angel Wings

Puppets are artificial creations that resemble animals, people or other animate objects that are controlled by a manipulator. Puppets come in a variety of different types depending on the type of puppetry they are meant for.
Types of puppetry involve finger puppets, which are controlled by a puppeteer’s fingers, sock puppets which are created using socks and manipulated using the hands, marionettes which are string puppets, and others.
Puppets are interesting because they are inanimate objects that resemble animate objects, and then are animated as a way of recreating the original animate object. As such, they can be great subjects for photographers:

Dragons are perhaps the most well known fantasy creatures, and appear not only in modern fantasy literature, movies and art, but also were part of historical mythology in ancient Greece, India, Persia, and China.
A dragon is a ferocious creature that combines qualities from snakes and reptiles, usually of a large size, and frequently with the ability to breathe fire. Although the characteristics of dragons differ by region of mythology (Chinese dragons differ from those from Greek mythology), modern depictions of dragons hold some common traits.
Dragons are especially popular in fantasy environments such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and many more. They are especially popular as a subject for artists because of their frequently terrifying nature, their ability to fly and breathe fire, and their frequent role as antagonists to a main character.

Cities are known for hustle and bustle and the noise and activity of every day life for millions of people. New York City, for example, is known as the city that never sleeps, and cities are home to a large percentage of the worlds population.
Cities are technically just large, densely populated clusters of buildings, but they also frequently have skyscrapers and other tall buildings, and tend to be centers of trade, commerce, transportation and other key features.
The lifestyles in cities, and the activities that take place there, are unique and like nowhere else on Earth, and the skylines can be quite breathtaking as well:

A package needs to fit the product that it contains. A package can consist of a variety of elements, from a simple label and wrapping, to a solid container or surrounding case, cup or box.
In multiple ways though, the package needs to fit. First, the package must be capable of containing and protecting the product so that it is not damaged or otherwise altered while waiting to be sold. Therefore, packages must be sturdy, capable of protecting from heat or light, or otherwise protective. Also, packages must fit the brand, and also make the product appealing in as many ways as possible.
Here’s some very fitting examples of packaging design:
El Tejocote
Monsieur Moustache
Coffee & Kitchen
Mestres Coupage Blue Fin
Blue Hill Yogurt
Arodama
Interflora
Lapp & Fao Chocolate
Donuts Club
Primal Kitchen

Surrealism is a niche art field, that combines reality with fantasy in a noticeably bizarre way that seems as though the real world has taken on some dreamlike or strange properties.
Perhaps best known in the field of surrealist art is Salvador Dali, but other artists such as Chirico and Max Ersnt also helped define the movement in art, which also combines with philosophy to combine dream and reality seamlessly in an effort to express the subconscious.
In photography, a variety of techniques can be employed, such as photomanipulation, double exposure, creative staging and forced perspective, to create a surreal photograph:

Business cards are an incredibly useful marketing tool for individuals and businesses, and a great way to create a memorable impression on a potential client or customer. Designing a business card includes not only selection of the cardstock, but also the design, positioning of elements, typography and colors.
One way to make a business card pop is to use foil, which imprints foil onto the business card in a stamping process.
Here’s some beautiful metallic foil business card designs that utilize gold or silver and shimmer brightly:

Space has fascinated mankind since the dawn of time. With myths and legends about the bodies in our solar system, and the sun (as well as other bodies) worshipped and revered as gods, all the way up through modern science, space has kept our attention and continues to hold mysteries.
Astrophotography is the art of taking photographs of outer space, which can be accomplished from the ground using a camera, or using a camera and telescope, or from the air. Some of the best known astrophotographs are taken from the Hubble space telescope. But we can’t capture everything with just cameras yet, so many artists also use photomanipulation to depict the stars.
Here’s some of the most eye-catching space photographs and manipulations to fascinate you:

When most people think of shopping bags, they just think of plain plastic or paper bags that are used to carry goods after purchase for convenience and protection. However, the simple shopping bag has the potential to be so much more.
The shopping bag can be one of the best ways to get free advertising, in a sort of "word of mouth" manner that is unspoken. With clever branding and design, others will notice the shopping bag and potentially be inclined to shop at the store as well, or at least investigate the brand further.
In this post, you’ll find some creative and innovative shopping bag designs that get it right:
Wine Bag
Fitness Bag
Empty Stomach Bag
Beer Crate Bag
Yuelan Liu Bag
Moo Shoes Bag
Woolsteria Bag
Gnome Bread Bag
Volkswagen Bag
Plastic Bags Kill Bag

Lots of different materials are used in automotive manufacturing, such as plastic, steel, carbon fiber and aluminum. However, some of the main components are made of metals, which can give strength to the vehicle but also provide a shiny surface.
For automotive enthusiasts, the metallic equipment in a car is some of the most fun to look at and tinker with. And for photographers, it’s one of the best subjects to photograph because it can reflect light and draw the eye and contrast against the color of the vehicle.
Here’s some examples of blinged out automotive photographs:
