Tumblr is still one of the most popular blogging platforms on the web, even after being acquired by Yahoo, as it’s simple to use, freely hosted and comes with a variety of themes and post options. While most people view Tumblr as just a place to post random tidbits and images, it can be a great source for tutorials, inspiration and quotes (as well as amusing banter). Theming Tumblr isn’t particularly difficult, but it’s different from doing themes for other CMSes like WordPress. Luckily though, there are tons of premade themes available to download and use, both free and premium. One of the best types of themes to use on Tumblr are minimal themes, as they all whatever media content you have to really shine. Here’s some of the best free minimal Tumblr themes you can install: Magnify Ultrazen The Minimalist Maqfee Criss Cross Nocturnal Optica Default Inamine Smart Minimal Related Posts Must Have WordPress Themes for 2014 Left-Aligned WordPress Themes Branding & Identity Design Mockup Templates Login & Signup Form Free PSDs to Download Free Email PSD and HTML Templates

Going slow tends to get a bad reputation. Most of us get frustrated with slow drivers, people who shop slowly and take their time, and in today’s fast paced digital world, slow is one of the worst adjectives that can be applied to a piece of technology. However, there are times when going slow allows you to appreciate the finer qualities of something, savor it, or enjoy it more thoroughly. In photography, slowness as a concept can be interesting to capture, as it’s a form of motion, but it doesn’t work particularly well with slow shutter speed photography or motion photography (unless the concept is to slow something fast down). Capturing it can be either thematic, or by showing something move slowly while everything else moves around it faster. Here’s some examples of slowness in photography: Snail and the raindrop By Vadim Trunov Relax time By Andiyan Lutfi Slow walking By bug eye Slow and low By mario grobenski - psychodaddy Slow Exit By Tyler Coen Slow Progress By Lior Y slow but sure By Shikhei goh Ghost Ship By Brodie Knox Slow and steady By Rahul Tripathi Slowly By sara aghapoor Slow Motion By Octavianus Darmawan Slow but sure By Andiyan Lutfi Slow transport By Ferdinando valverde Slow Water By Frank Jensen Slowely but surely By Tomasz Trzebiatowski The Killer By Richard Peters People Come and Go By Marco Soggetto Floating slowly By Evans Lazar alongshore By Andrey Narchuk Slow but sure By Andiyan Lutfi Feeding Time By Andiyan Lutfi Ouuugh…so hard By Andiyan Lutfi Slowly Melting Away By Marina Garrido Golden Rush Hour By Evgeny Tchebotarev Slow and Steady By Barath Ganesh Slow and Steady By Patrick Siau slow n steady win the race By Dharmendra Kumar Fibonacci’s Spiral By Arvin Rahimzadeh it’s been a slow day By Odette Holty oOpS , a snail on the Waves Related Posts Eyecatching Photographs of Green Insects Windows: More than Just an Opening in Photography The Art of Flour 30 Time Themed Photographs Abstract Art in the Simple Leaf

The apocalypse is one of the most popular subjects for film, art, novels, and more. The concept of mass destruction, death and chaos makes for quite a dramatic background for any story. The apocalypse is usually associated with fire, decay, abandonment, chaos, breakdown of government, mass destruction, death, war and the end of the world. Using a combination of digital painting, photography and 3D art, artists are able to create some stunningly (and even scarily) real visions of the apocalypse. Here’s a few of my favorite destruction and apocalypse artworks: Star Trek: Into Darkness by Nick Boes Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, Concept by Akajork Destroyed Bridge by KAMINARIVFX Apocalypse by trainfender The Delta by Alexandre Charleux Untitled by maaquo1 Cataclysm by Wasteland-3D Burning City by de gerardo Apocalypse Now by Adam Varga The Showdown After the Countdown by priteeboy Related Posts Haunting Visions of the Apocalypse in Artworks Branding & Identity Design Mockup Templates Mind Blowing Matte Paintings for VFX 30 Decadent Chocolate Photographs for Your Valentine Awesome Free Fonts You Should Download

Nature is full of incredible moments, unbelievable scenes and tons of action. Whether it’s large predators like lions and bears attacking their prey, or the tiniest of insects teaming up to accomplish a task, nature has countless photographable moments at all scales. One of the reasons that nature photography is so popular is that it is so accessible. You don’t have to dive to the depths of the ocean or travel into the wild to find a fascinating scene. Wildlife is all around us and a great nature scene is often no further than the nearest wooded area. In nature, sometimes incredible moments happen that are captured at just the right time by photographers, like these: jump By Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson The grasp By Astrid Mannerkoski One hand try By Foad Mirzaie buddy By Valdas Autumn fairy tale By liangdawei Team Work By Andiyan Lutfi Crossing By Andiyan Lutfi sweet dew By liangdawei tree frog By Veli Aydogdu Pandion haliaetus and a Koi By Assaf Gavra Teamwork By SreeKumar Mahadevan Pillai Weaver ants mending nest_P.Karunakaran By Karunakaran Parameswaran Pillai Men, Stand Your Ground. To run a successful restaurant, the food needs to be good. But even with good food, poor customer service, poor ambiance and poor branding can sink even the best restaurants. These days, the restaurant business is so competitive that a restaurant needs to stand out in many ways, and the interior/exterior design is one of them. The ambiance of a restaurant is key to making the food seem as part of a cohesive experience, and the lighting also helps to draw out and highlight certain aspects of the food. Creating an location design for a restaurant can be challenging, and often multiple concepts are required to create the vision. This is where visualization comes into play. Using computer software, it’s possible to create realistic designs, like these: Briggs Bar Fiori Divino restaurant view 001 by nstu3dio Montero Pizza Art Spacialists Restaurant in Bordeaux Stefano’s Oyster Bar Crespella Related Posts Stunning Interior Renders of Commercial Environments Deliciously Creative Food Logo Designs Inviting Interior and Exterior Design Ideas Lifelike Architectural Visualizations Delicious Examples of Food Photography

Superheros are some of the most popular characters in fictional media, and with good reason: they wield incredible powers and perform awesome feats, and save the world from countless enemies and disasters. Each superhero comes with their own powers, and often, their own weaknesses, perhaps most famously, Superman’s weakness is kryptonite. Often, but not always, superheros have to mask their identity in order to protect their work. Superheros can be captured in real life photography, using some clever photomanipulation and staging of elements, and the results range from awe-inspiring to cute and adorable: Supergirl By David Love Evanescence By wayofart.ch Catwoman By Ben Britt stealthy like a cat By wayofart.ch The Amazing Spiderman By Isidro Urena super girl By mehmet turgut Supersvendsen By Glenn Meling Man of Steel By Glenn Meling Superhero By Rangizzz Catwoman 2.0 By Stowell Fiery By Christophe Kiciak Man of Pixels By Les Wolverine / self portrait By william belle Spiderman By Ferj Photography Super Girl By Rebecca Banks Desi Superman By Omair Muhammad Lizzy By Frank Sanders SThe Incredible By Daniel The DigArtisT York ReLife Line By Daniel The DigArtisT York dressed for carnival birthday By Tor Egil Brevik Ironman By Scott Meeker Wolverine in London By Glyn Dewis BATMAN by Calvin Hollywood By Calvin Hollywood Catwoman By Sébastien Roignant I have a Hulk By Glenn Meling Black Cat City View By David Love THE FIRST AVENGER by Steve Thewis SUPER HEROES By Jonathan justicia carrasco a new era has begun By wayofart.ch Darkwing By Ralf Mack Related Posts The Art of Flour Abstract Art in the Simple Leaf Windows: More than Just an Opening in Photography 10 New Years Celebration Photographs Need for No Speed: Slow in Photography

Last week, we talked about the importance of location design when it comes to running a successful restaurant or food-based business. If the food is the attraction, and the restaurant is the location, the logo is what helps people recognize it. Logo design requires a ton of creativity and the ability to refine down a vast array of concepts into a single idea. While the design elements may change from industry to industry, the challenge is the same. In the restaurant industry, playing off ingredients or food, or using a play on words, are some of the most creative ways to make interesting logos. Here’s a few examples of creative and clever food logo designs that might just make you want to try these restaurants: Pepperhorn Eggflip Pizza GuavaPlaza BurgerFactory Rooster Bakery cuisincakes Recipe House Eggtown Eduger Related Posts Motor and Car Themed Logo Designs Retro and Vintage Styled Logos Christmas and Holiday Logos Creative Logo Designs for 2013 Burning Hot Fire Logo Designs

Blurriness is usually considered a bad thing. No one likes to have blurry vision, it’s a symptom of poor eyesight or health issues, and it leads to headaches due to the inability of the eye to focus properly. In photography, blur is usually considered an amateur’s problem when it’s unintended, and simply a focusing feature for more advanced photographers. Blur occurs for two main reasons in photography. The first type is focal blur, or blur that results from a lens being focused on something and not on something else, and having a limited depth of field. The other type is motion blur, which is caused by moving objects that are being photographed with slower shutter speeds. Blur isn’t always a bad thing, in fact, it’s often used to highlight or bring out a subject, or to create a sense of motion or intensity, such as in these examples: Speed By Zbynek Cincibus invitation By Jure Kravanja Lisbon - Line 28 By Michael Jurek Balerina Art Wave By Antonyus Bunjamin (Abe) Blending By Nadav Dov Boretzki Vertigo By Vince Russell Rush By Marton Apai Journey By Laszlo Gal Life on the road By Amine Fassi Chained By Zain Uddin Hadfeez London’s Lifeline By Aaron Yeoman something wicked this way comes By blumwurks Loneliness By Manu Barreiro Amazing By ruben redondo Busy street By Irina Sen’ Twister By Ahmed Abdulazim Chasing the Cans II By Barbara Read Berkin Elvan By Emine Basa Workday By Angela Muliani Hartojo passing By ali aminaie ManhattanTwilightBlur By coolor foto Motion Blur By Paul Sikorski Tower Bridge By Tim Stolldorf Untitled By Elke Kulhawy The Knockout Punch By Faisal Haroon Boating By Massimo Della Latta New York by night,2013 By Loreta Teodorova Voutova blurr By Antje Woolum Rainy step By sur Operette Performers Parade By Ridzal Ridwan Related Posts Windows: More than Just an Opening in Photography Need for No Speed: Slow in Photography The Art of Flour Abstract Art in the Simple Leaf Photographers at Work in Pictures

Fire is one of the most important processes that occurs on Earth. The ability to stay warm, eat cooked food and keep predators away was essential to early mankind’s survival, and along the way, it’s been harvested to help power engines and as a weapon through flamethrowers. Fire has some specific concepts associated with it, such as energy, heat, passion, warmth, and destruction. When used in art and design, it frequently expresses one of these concepts. Using fire in design is actually harder than it seems, because fire is not a solid object that can simply be pasted into a scene. It generally needs to be created from scratch or have layer effects applied to get a result. Here’s some tutorials that will help you with it: Create a Magical Flaming Heart Illustration in Photoshop Ridiculously Realistic Scorching Fire Effect Flaming Car in Photoshop How to Create a Flying Land Illustration On Fire Create an Explosive Flaming Poker Card Photoshop Tutorial Making of Fire Dragon Space Explosion Photoshop Tutorial How to Create a Hellacious Flaming Skull in Photoshop Firefish Photoshop Tutorial Dramatic Text on Fire Effect in Photoshop Related Posts Fun Text Effect Tutorials You Have to Try Instructional Winter Photoshop Tutorials Great Photoshop Art & Design Tutorials Best Photoshop Tutorials from 2012 Outstanding Photoshop Illustration Tutorials

In a previous post, I wrote about the intricate beauty and possibilities for abstract art in the simple leaf. Leaves have a delicate and subtle beauty to them. One of the great things about leaves is that they come in all different shapes, sizes and colors. Some leaves are large, others are small, and even during the course of a year, leaves have multiple size changes and color changes depending on the type of leaf and the season of the year. Leaves are great for photographers, because of the way they absorb and diffuse light, and the fact that they are capable of some motion due to wind, but are otherwise stationary and easy to photograph: Golden Light By Joni Niemelä Pliable By Shihya Kowatari Real raindrop not glycerine drop By Mehmet Mesart Solitude By Jan Vojtek Orange Crush By Niko Vass Une Feuille d’Automne By Taeki M Solo By Marius Popescu Eyes Can’t Tell Us By Marc Adamus dreamland By Peter Sziky - Peet The woman By John Andreas Olsson Leaf By Codrin Lupei Leaf By BogdanBoev "The 3 Brothers" on their way to Christmas By Moni Too late By Muhammad AlMuhammady Leave By Paul van Geldrop Autumn Ethereal By Alexandre Deschaumes Winds of Summer By Alex Greenshpun Precious texture By Julia Wimmerlin Simply autumn By Martineb oak leaf detail By Gale Rainwater RainyI want to see that ! So many new websites and web startups these days are web applications. With much of the computing world moving to cloud computing, no longer are users installing software on their computers, instead, they’re using web services to do things like word processing, financial record keeping and other common tasks. Creating web apps is a long process, from the concept creation to the design and the development. Many of the same elements will be used throughout the project, so it’s often helpful to have a UI kit to use when concepting or designing. Here, I’ve gathered up some great UI kits for designing and concepting dashboards, which are one of the most common parts of web apps: Flat dashboard. Fashion is actually surprisingly hard to define. Broadly, fashion is the selection of clothing, footwear, makeup, accessories and jewelry in order to look attractive. However, what specifically is fashionable and isn’t fashionable is subjective to personal taste. Certainly, there are some fashion design houses that lead the way in determining what is or isn’t fashionable. And fashion does have a habit of coming and going, such as bow-ties, plaid patterns, and colors, and changing over time. However, the key to fashion tends to be (more often than not) confidence. The ability to wear an outfit proudly, have it flatter a person’s appearance and draw the proper amount and type of attention from others. Fashion photography attempts to capture this statement, using additional lighting and artistic elements: V. A . Engagement is one of the biggest events in a couple’s romantic life. When people enter a relationship, they usually hope it will lead to engagement, and then a wedding with a happy marriage and a family. Engagement is often considered the first big commitment, a promise to be married in the future. Engagement traditions vary by region, but the most well known tradition is the man dropping to a knee, and presenting his hopeful fiancee with an engagement ring and asking for her hand in marriage. These days, it’s really common to want to capture the moment in photographs, and take a series of post-engagement photographs to celebrate, and here’s some great examples: Proposal by Kevin Warn Photography Proposal by Chris Emeott Untitled Ashton and Liz Engaged by Haley Sheffield Outdoorsy Shoot by Jackie Willard Engagement Photo by Natasha Uspensky Christina and Kevin by eePhotography Hannah and Sean: Engaged by Jason+Gina Untitled by Jose Villa Untitled by Galveston Engagement Photography Related Posts The Best Free Minimal Tumblr Themes Valentine’s Day Heart Photography Free Dashboard UI Kits and Elements PSDs Free Texture Friday - Vintage Paper 7 Free Texture Friday - Rust and Stone

Beaches have a special place in the hearts of many people. They are synonymous with vacation, rest, relaxation, warmth, sun and refreshment, because they are often popular vacation spots in sunny locations surrounded by palm trees. Beaches are areas of land along the shore of a body of water, and can consist of rocks, sand, gravel, shells and sometimes dirt. Depending on their location, they are frequently tourist destinations, such as beaches in tropical locations or near major cities such as New York City. Beaches are great places to take photographs, because of the contrast between the water and the beach, the life (both human and nonhuman) that surrounds beach areas, and the different moods that can be captured: Beached Bus … By Yvette Depaepe *My* Beach By Dennis Hansen Hvítserkur By Bragi Ingibergsson - BRIN Christiane affronting the storm By Yvette Depaepe Sky Hook By Karsten Wrobel Coffee Rocks By Mel Brackstone Cannon Beach By Martin Rak Champagne Dusk By Karsten Wrobel Mountains and Beach By Xavier Wiechers Teddy Blue By Marko Mastosaari beachball By Danny Block The Return By Jonathan Danker Connected By Christian Wig La bahía. / The bay. Railroads are one of the primary modes of transportation used around the world, both for goods as well as for people. With the development of the steam engine, railroads exploded in use in both Europe and the United States, before spreading around the world, and then experiencing a decline. However, railroads are seeing a resurgence around the world, particularly in Asia, with the development of high speed rail. Railroads do have some unique challenges though, as they require track to be laid over a wide area, which leaves a noticeable mark on the environment, and they also produce significant noise, which many homeowners object to having nearby.
