Even free LMSs like Moodle can require a significant IT investment, whereas premium LMSs like BlackBoard can end up paying for themselves in the long run. The numbers show a strong split between LMS choice depending on how limited a school’s student body is (and thus their resources).
George Kroner, a former BlackBoard engineer, expresses surprise in "…seeing [Moodle] surpass Blackboard below the 2,500 FTE mark - I was actually kind of shocked to see that."Read more »

If you’re like most modern companies today, you want your employees to have the best possible education when it comes to their jobs. They should be well versed in your operations and the technologies you use, be able to spout lingo and engage with platforms you rely on, and be up to date on all safety and security measures. We’re constantly told that beauty is only skin-deep, but the truth is people are very drawn to pretty things. Though it may seem shallow to say so, and you might want to believe better of your employees, the truth is you’ll get a lot further with your e-Learning courses if you make them visually appealing.

Teachers of eLearning courses often rely on PowerPoint files for curriculum delivery. E-Learning courses often contain a lot of files and hyperlinks, and may not meet your tracking and plagiarism needs. In addition, the maximum size of file uploads may make uploading PowerPoint files impossible, even when compressed. Being able to email a PowerPoint to a student - or better yet, email a link to a student after uploading to a secure cloud service - might make delivery of e-Learning courses that much easier.

This year at DevLearn was a wonderful opportunity to network with other vendors, learn more about the latest trends in the e-Learning industry, and share the latest advances in the iSpring product line. Of course it wasn’t all business: we also had plenty of fun, too! Here’s a breakdown of some of the highlights of the conference:

Previous iSpring users were particularly excited about new features like the Dialog Trainer and Screen Recording Tool, while general visitors were attracted to the QuizMaker tool with the built-in Slide View editing interface. Everyone, however, was excited about the brand-new Video Lecture Player, which allows viewers to adjust the ratio between PowerPoint slides and talking head video on the fly.
