Imagine being able to walk through your new office building, check out neighborhoods for an apartment, and exchange business cards with your new co-workers or clients in New Delhi without ever leaving your chair. This use of virtual reality in e-Learning just got a major boost when Oculus VR announced earlier this month that the consumer version of Oculus Rift- a virtual reality head-mounted display that looks like ski goggles and displays a 360 degree world- will be available before the end of 2015. This newest model will retail at a price between $200 and $400, offers improved resolution and refresh rates (reducing eye strain and providing smoother visuals), and comes loaded with software apps for movie, photo and cinema viewing, as well as, the purchase of virtual reality content.

Today with a high level of content interactivity and cross-platform issues, it’s vital for mLearning developers to conduct a variety of tests on their software for such things as multi-browser compatibility and proper behavior within specific LMSs. QA (Quality Assurance) Testing is an essential procedure to ensure that the product works properly for end users.
Our good friend Mark Simon, a Senior Training Consultant at HiMark Solutions with over 20 years of hands-on experience in e-Learning, has shared his profound knowledge in his article for Learning Solutions Magazine.

This is it: the big day! Time to gather around under the tree, the first rays of the sun piercing the misty, crispy dawn sky, children’s eyes round as saucers and gleaming with delight. No need to think about the brown, piny, needle-shedding hulk you have to drag out onto the street later: now is the magic moment! Put away the cameras, phones, and tablets — these memories are for human eyes, not the cold digital sensor of a plastic box in front of your face. Today, hands are for hugging, opening presents, playing music, and stuffing yourself with goodies. (Or for rubbing together in anticipation of any of the preceding.)

If you type gamification into a Word document, you'll notice the spell checker flags it as incorrect. The term was coined sometime in 2002, but it didn't start catching on until around 2010. Though the term is new, the idea has been around for hundreds of years. Simply put, gamification is the process of learning by using game mechanics to solve various problems. The idea behind gamification is to turn everyday learning into something fun and engaging for the student.

Gamification is becoming a major player in the e-Learning realm. For many traditionalists, gamification can be seen as frivolous and devoid of fundamental teaching. For professionals, and those who have played video games throughout their childhoods, it is an exciting idea to enhance education.
More than 75% of Americans play video games. Of these, 50% say they play casually and 27% report playing moderately or frequently. Dialog and avatars from these games are now part of our culture. Almost everyone recognizes a reference to "Angry Birds" in a conversation.

In Stockholm, Volkswagen and the Swedish National Society for Road Safety paired up to put a theory coined by Kevin Richardson to the test. This theory asked the question; would drivers respect the speed limit just for fun?
To test this, they installed a lottery radar speeding camera. This camera would penalize drivers who drove above acceptable speeding limits, and issue a lottery ticket to those who did. The prize offered by the lottery ticket went up with each penalized driver. The results were obvious. Once the elements of a game were introduced and added a competitive edge, more drivers observed the speed limits than without the added game.Read more »

Mark Wilcock is a Learning Technology Development (LTD) officer at the prestigious Edge Hill University in northwestern England. In January 2014, he and the LTD team at Edge Hill began to experiment with iSpring authoring tools as a way to aid both faculty and students in their online/mobile learning experience. The results were so encouraging that they launched an "early adopters project", including a webinar in July of that same year, which resulted in dozens of faculty and staff using iSpring as part of the project.
The early adopters project was completed in early 2015, and three participants were chosen to present video case studies, where they would share their experiences using iSpring. As of last month, all the interviews have been completed, and the results are overwhelmingly positive.
Some Impressions from Edge Hill Faculty
Sertip Zangana is a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice from the Faculty of Health & Social Care. See how he used iSpring to deliver "enhanced versions" of his lectures to students on any device:

Carl Simmons is the Lead Partnership Quality Officer in the Faculty of Education. He used iSpring to deliver an "Online Mentor Training Package" for their instructors in the field. Here he shares his thoughts on why they chose iSpring to solve their accessibility issues:
Conclusions
In this age of rapidly advancing mobile technology, learning is exploding out of the classroom. It’s more important than ever to find the right tools to keep up with that technology quickly and effectively, while still being easy to use right out of the box. These positive case studies show how iSpring is already being embraced by professional educators in the highest levels of academia.

This year at mLearnCon, among the throngs who visited our booth, we also had several guests who were already iSpring users. A few of them were kind enough to share some thoughts about their personal experience using iSpring. We’ve transcribed some of those interviews, so you can get a taste of what it’s like to be an iSpring customer.
Debbie Richards, President at Creative Interactive Ideas
iSpring: Hi Debbie, how are you doing today?
Debbie: I’m great, thank you very much!
iSpring: Please tell me a few words about yourself and about what you do.
Debbie: I am a technology consultant, I’m based in Houston, Texas and I recommend software to clients that are going to do e-Learning or mobile learning, I try to find the best solution for their needs.
