Earth has only one moon, and it has forever fascinated mankind. A moon is a celestial body that is gravitationally bound to another planet, and Earth’s moon is theorized to have formed between a large collision between Earth and another planet early on in the solar system’s existence. The moon has an impact on a variety of Earth’s features, such as tides, and has long had superstitious beliefs associated with it (such as the moon making you crazy, which is why "loony" is derived from "luna" for Moon).
